Militaries, techniques, clock and musical instruments
(Admin of the collection: Miroslav Novohradský)

This collection contains militaries, clocks, technical sights and musical instruments. Collective items of such focus have been gathered since the founding of the museum in Jičín. Militaries (guns) are the biggest part of the collection; it contains firearms, parts of the equipment (Prussian and Russian helmets). The biggest set of firearms comes from Prussian-Austrian war from 1866 when a battle between the Austrian and Sassian kings and the further moving Prussian army took place on 29. June 1866. There still can be found various munitions on the battlefield including bullets to rifles and small metal pieces of the soldier's equipment from both war parts. Guns used in both World Wars of the 20th century create another part of this collection.

Belaboured helmet (kulah – chud) is one of the most impressive items of the collection. It also has a suspensory net for the protection of the neck and it is displayed in the permanent museum exposition. Further, there are two Jičín's executing swords that were made from commonly used type of a sword. Uniforms make another part of the military collection e.g. military, police or railman.

Clocks and clock devices create another part of the collection where the oldest are dated from the 17th century. The clocks are both wooden and painted from country houses and richly decorated desk clocks from town houses from the 18th and 19th century. There are also pocket watches from the same time period. A set of four clocks from the clocksmith Jan Prokeš (1818-1890) from Sobotka is also very interesting. He was the author of various types of clocks and watches from the small pocket ones to the big clocks suitable to a tower (most of his work unfortunately did not remain, the active ones could be found e.g. in the Sobotka's church). Hour device with a clock face also comes form his workshop and there is written a text saying: "Our operation lasts at one wind four years. Jan Prokeš, Sobotka 1854."

Technical sights belong to those two parts of the collection e.g. radiodevices, gramophones, recorders, telephones, photograph devices (board, spools), playing and computer machines (predecessor of calculatros) further house devices are kept here (vacuum cleaners, food processors etc.). Musical instrument (string and brass) create the last part of the collection. A gift from Antonín Brožek a Jičín's photographer is a very valuable part of the collection. It contains photographic devices, zooms, photocopiers, helping items for developing films etc.
