The conference salon
The conference salon is the only room with period house contents that reminds of diplomatic talks during the Napoleon wars that took place in this salon from 1.6. to 6.7. 1813.
The Austrian emperor accepted the invitation from Duke Ferdinand Trauttmansdorff during the Napoleon wars and arrived to Jičín with his court to be closer to his allies. Duke Clemens Wenzel Nepomuk Lothar Metternich, Russian ambassador count Karel Vasiljevič Nesselrode, general Duk, general Jan Kučera etc. all arrived to Jiřín together with the emperor. Long meetings took place here and many important personalities arrived to Jičín. The town was also visited by Austrian politician and general Duke Karel Filip Schwarzenberg, Austrian field marshal count Jan Josef Václav Radecký and many other Prussian, Russian and French negotiators. Dispatches and diplomatic talks proceeded in attendance of emperor Alexander I. who lived in Opočno at that time together with Prussian king Friedrich Vilém III, who was lodged in Ratibořice.
First results of those meeting could be seen 16th – 19th October 1813 at the Battle of Leipzig where Napoleon was defeated and escaped with only rests of his army.
