There are plenty of possibilities of tours of our permanent expositions in our museum. Four independent ways which you can go through and come back to the same spot start straight from the cash desk. The first tour includes 8 halls of homeland studies exposition that catch the historical development and nature of the Jičín region. The second tour rises up to the non-completed tower of the castle – to manorial oratory. The third tour leads to the arcade courtyard where there is now an exhibition hall with short-term exhibitions. And the fourth? The fourth tour leads to four halls out of which the most important (except the big hall, where is the Valdštejn's and Jesuit's exhibition placed) is the conference lounge commemorating the year 1813 and the negotiations of contranapoleon coalition. So the visitor may choose four knowledge tours.
The first tour is traditional. You can walk through the exposition and read the legends by each exhibit or detailed texts devoted to each period.
The second tour is lead by a family guide who will take you to the homeland study exposition that is based on experience. There was chosen a typical element for each hall that is an element of activity or game situation. Therefore it is possible to try out e.g. grinding the coffee on a stone grinder, spinning a fibre on a spinning wheel, puppet theatre or writing in a scriptorium. The family guide who is a part of the ticket will draw your attention to the most interesting exhibits and also to the interactive places that are marked with a special symbol and he also invites the visitors to find a copy of a historical coin in each room which they can copy using the fronting technique with the guide's help.
The third tour leads to the new-built museum gaming room. This room offers the possibility to assemble women costumes from separate fragments that correspond the period of each of the eight halls. It is possible to assemble various images of Jičín's square in the middle of the room and it is possible to assemble a needed model according to the historical sources on a lamella beard. There is also a Wardrobe full of questions to be found that contains various sets of different objects referring to the eight exhibition halls. If you are interested you can also visit the castle theatre and act the story of Eliška Kateřina Smiřícká.
The fourth tour develops the theme of Albert from Valdštejn. Visitors are allowed to make a cane of rolled paper that is similar to the one that the duke of Valdštejn has in all the pictures in Jičín's museum. It reveals other stories and secret locks with the help of a map and the key is Valdštejn's cane. In some places it helps to play the music, in others to spin the stroboscope and finally it is the only key that opens the secret room.
We think that it is worth to stop in Jičín and visit the exhibition in our museum.
