The history of the gallery
The gallery was made independent in 1965 under the name Gallery of graphic art in Jičín for the district Jičín and Semily. It had only limited activity because there were huge building works at the castle.
Former horse barn was rebuilt during 1972-1974 and in 1975 a new big exhibition hall was opened there. Ceremonial hall was later established from one of its parts in 1980. The gallery has been merged with the museum since 1st January 1987 and a new name was created – Regional museum and gallery Jičín.
